How to Know Your Coursemate Has Bastard Money

Date:

Inside: My roommate is stealing from me

This issue is brought to you by NeoForm, they want to give Nigerian students who can speak their native languages some money. More on it later in this newsletter.

Why do rich people love pretending to be like the rest of us? In case you don’t know, we can smell your richness from a mile away.

And that’s what I’m here for. To teach you guys that don’t know how to spot them exactly how to.

And that’s what I’m here for. To teach you guys that don’t know how to spot them exactly how to.

But before that, one of you reached out to me with a question. And like I promised you in the last newsletter, I will try to pick one problem from a university student every week.

So, in the spirit of teaching and helping each other, what do you think about this?

“Ire, please help me ask. My roommate has been taking from my foodstuffs since resumption, and the day I confronted her, she apologized and said she planned to tell me and replace it. But I noticed that my foodstuffs are still reducing. I’m sure she’s the one taking it, but I don’t know if I should confront her because I don’t have proof. What can I do?”

As a fellow student, what do you think they should do? Tell them here.

Back to today’s newsletter. The following are signs of rich kid behaviour.

1. They don’t think twice before paying impromptu fees.

Lecturer will say you should buy their textbook for ₦7,500 or you won’t pass their course. And while the rest of you are swearing for him and cursing the day you stepped into that school, this certain coursemate has bought it already.

Worse is they’ll still join you to complain about the economy o.

2. They always print in colour.

Black and white, ke? They’ve never heard of that before. Even if the assignment is one million pages long, they’ll print everything in colour.

Even though you’re managing black and white, you don’t have to live in it.

Subscribe to our newsletter now for colourful university updates every week.

3. They close their laptop without shutting down first.

Let’s tell ourselves the truth, you cannot try it with a laptop that if you mistakenly press one button the wrong way it’ll pack up. It’s only people that are not using average gadgets like us average people that can be closing and opening their laptop anyhow.

4. Bills are always on them.

Any small thing, “bills on me”, “of course you can add yours”, “bring one more for my guy.” Nothing says I’m rich and I don’t know what to do with money more than this.

5. Their “broke” can sponsor your entire semester.

Please how are you wearing High Fashion to 10am class and telling me that you’re broke? The same shirt is dragging price with land in Gbagada? At least fear God small na.

6. They use hand cream.

Not just any hand cream, mind you. Usually those ones that can only be found in one unpronounceable city in East Asia.

You people should be showing us the way, please.

And while we’re at it, we have an update for you.
