Season’s Greetings

Date:

Happy New Year\’s Eve

Written by Oluwagbemisola Ogunleye

Season’s greetings to the meat thieves, drink hoarders and resident house helps,

There is no shame in admitting that you\’ve not read a single page since you got home. Your village people probably substituted the coleslaw you used to eat your jollof rice on Christmas day for your CGPA but in the week between Christmas and New Year\’s day, time does not exist. You don chop wetin you don chop. You will face the consequences of your actions in January but for now; na your time, enjoy.

The reason for the seasoning (in the voice of Layi in ELJ theme song) is either aggressive plate washing or oblee– depending on whether or not you are spending Christmas away from your family.

The other reason however is gratitude for all the people you finished the year with and those you will do 2025 with. On this note, we would like to say it was lovely doing 2024 with this community and we are looking forward to doing 2025 with you (without Tinubu’s economy if we\’re lucky).

As you read this, we are rubbing our hands and cackling in anticipation of your reaction to all the things we have in store for you next year.

Even though it\’s currently doing you like as if you\’ve dropped out, it\’s not too late for your academic comeback, try dey take style read. You can chop your jollof and have it, don\’t let your village people win.

Send this to someone in the community you are grateful for and all the people on your contact list that need a reminder that they are writing tests in January.

Happy New Year in advance, fam. Stay orange 🧡
