No Gree for SAPA! (Say NO to lack of funds)

Now that we look at it, the topic of this newsletter sounds rather…violent, it\’s rather urgent, no vex.
It\’s the first issue of this newsletter, and we are talking about SAPA, which shows how serious it is.
We have refused to be left out on this year\’s motto – ‘No gree for everybody’ and you shouldn\’t too.
But don\’t lie (you\’re in a safe space, you can confess here), you don’t exactly understand what you\’re not \’greeing’ for.
This year is already running on drama and wahala, it\’s dancing between \’good drama\’ and \’bad drama\’ but that\’s a good sign if you ask us. It\’s only week two and everywhere is already hot.
It means that this year is full of opportunities (just ask Mummy Zee).
Unfortunately, a good number of the audience reading this have \’single\’ on their NIN, and (better change your bad character this year, let someone\’s child marry you) we can\’t all cash out like Mummy Zee.
Source of income – ‘Daddy good morning’. E never tire you?
There is a high probability that as you are reading this, your account balance is somewhere south of ‘God abeg’. We\’re not here to shame you or talk down on your efforts. School is hard enough as it is without adding insufficient funds. We know!
We’re here to show you how to level up your finance game as a Nigerian student. You deserve to eat well (plenty of chicken, pounded yam, and stir-fried things. YKTV) as you\’re shuttling between classes and scratching your head over that (actually very unnecessary) assignment.
Battling school shege while being penniless is just shege raised to the power of three. So, we\’ve compiled a list of the top 3 secrets to earning money as a Nigerian student. 2024 must be soft. You\’re welcome.
● LEARN HIGH-DEMAND SKILLS OR UPGRADE YOUR CURRENT SKILLS:
Now the big question is, what are the high-demand skills you can monetize as a student without affecting your studies? Your primary assignment is to read your book. Here are a few soft things you can do without disturbing your grades:
– UGC content creation: UGC means User Generated Content, which means that you get to create content for products in use but this time, you get paid for it. For example, a lady styling a two-piece dress from a female fashion brand, a guy showing us how to use bodybuilding equipment, etc just like you see in TikTok and Instagram Videos. A lot of brands are on the look for UGC content creators right now and content creation is fun and easy to do.. The skills you need for this include videography (phone camera or digital camera), photography, editing skills, scripting, voice-over art, and many more.
– Graphic designers and UI/UX designers: Thank God for the lockdown season that opened the eyes of many to various entrepreneurial opportunities, now we have a lot of business owners who need the services of Graphic designers who can give artistic and visually appealing representations of what their business is all about – enter Graphic and UI/UX designers who make the experience of interacting with products, services, and technology as enjoyable and easy for the user as possible.
– Social Media Managers: Do you know how to use social media platforms such as Instagram, Twitter (now X), Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn and Discord really well? It’s time to put that endless and unproductive scrolling on social media to good use, look for free courses to brush up on this skill and get brands that are willing to pay you to handle their business pages for a wider audience reach on the digital space – there are a lot of them around you, just ask around.
● BECOME A TUTOR:
Dear departmental scholar, what is stopping you from using your brilliance to cash out? Stop dishing out that knowledge for free. If you know you and you have been told that you are knowledgeable about a course and you can teach it very well, then this is definitely for you. Organize tutorials for your coursemates, teach them for a stipulated period, and attach an amount to that time frame. For instance, you can organize monthly/semester study groups whereby your coursemates pay you a particular amount for the semester so that you can all meet for 2 hours, once a week to teach them what they need to know about the course. Just imagine getting paid 30,000 per 10 students in a 3-month semester to teach them the same thing your lecturer taught you all in class. Your brilliance has put you one step ahead of your mates financially at N300,000 per semester. Now that’s the financial freedom we are talking about!
● PAID INTERNSHIPS:
The interesting thing about paid internships is that you are learning on the job and still getting paid. For instance, if you are a student studying mass communication specializing in Broadcasting, you can get a part-time job at a radio station to co-host a radio show 2 times a week. You do not only gather experience through supervision and mentor-ship while doing this, you also get paid for it. This form of earning money as a student is especially important for you if you want to gain knowledge about your desired field of study, gain experience in the working environment, and network with industry experts.
Now are you thinking of the right learning and employment plugs? TFS is always willing to help.

In the next issue, I\’ll tell you something else we should not \’gree\’ for, and how we will do it. Yes, it is a SERIES.
Until then, share this newsletter with your people. A wise man once said, \”We rise by lifting others\”. Don\’t escape sapa alone.
